Do you ever walk into a pharmacy and take a look at the tennis elbow supports? Have you noticed how many different types there are? How many different sized there are? Or even how many different brands there are? All of this can be really confusing and when you are in a lot of pain, you just don’t have time to look and feel and touch the supports. Instead what you need is an article that tells you all the different kids and how they differ. Good job we are here then really!

OK so to start with, there are four main types of tennis elbow band or support. The first is a splint. This splint works by holding your arm in a very straight position and making sure that you cant move it. You may be able to remove the splints form the support making it slightly easier but this support is mainly for people with sever tennis elbow and for protection at night time. Keeping your arm in a straight position for the duration of your tennis elbow can be a very dangerous move because when your tendons heal, they will heal in that position leaving you with a stiff elbow that you can’t fully use again. By moving it about and allowing a little freedom, you can make things more flexible and eliminate that problem.

The second type of support is a neoprene support. This acts like a sports support and is useful for using while doing your every day activities. The neoprene support is good for those who have moderate pain but feel the splint a bit restricting. The third type of support is a tubular bandage. These come in a variety of sizes and lengths. The length is a big advantage because by doubling over the bandage you can double the support. This support is best for people with mild pain relating to tennis elbow. The fourth type of tennis elbow support is a tennis elbow band. This works by relieving the pressure off the tendons and giving them a chance to heal. This support is perfect if you want a support that will help prevent tennis elbow as this one can be worn before the symptoms of tennis elbow even creep up. If you know that you are going to be doing any activity that might bring on your tennis elbow then the band is ideal. If you find that the elbow tendonitis symptoms are bearable then try to not have a support at all.

There is nothing worse than waiting for hours in your doctors waiting room only to be told that you have to go home and rest. You spent several hours “resting” in the waiting room and now you have to rest some more! Do you ever wonder what resting actually does for your arm? How does it help to mend things and make sure that they are OK? And how does it help with the agonizing pain you have in your arm at the moment? Well thankfully there is a natural remedy that you can use at home. Firstly lets deal with the pain. Use both a cool and heat pack alternately to combat the swelling and the aching pain. If you don’t have a heat pack then use a hot water bottle and if you don’t have a cool pack then a bag of frozen peas will do.

Once the pain is under control, you can start to deal with your elbow itself. Now the reason it hurts is because the tendons are damaged,. By resting your arm, your tendons will fuse back together slowly but this will take weeks if not months. By moving your arm around you can encourage blood to the ares which will speed up the healing process. When you use the tennis elbow exercises, you are also moving the tendons so they heal in a flexible position. The exercises themselves involve things like lifting light objects repetitively and trying to grip a pencil.

There are many more exercises and tennis elbow remedies available on the Internet and in ebook format. You can buy these ebooks and find all the exercises that will help you to gain your arm back and show that doctor that the resting did nothing but could have left you with a stiff aching elbow! Take your health into your own hands and do something about it today!
