After buying the Logitech Harmony One universal remote, it became clear to me that this was what I had been looking for all this time. I really wanted one that was rechargeable. I hate it when my remote batteries start dying. The Harmony One comes with its own charging cradle, so one never has to worry about running to the store for batteries again. I was also interested in the RF capabilities. With the RF system attached you don’t even have to point the remote at the device you are trying to control. It even works behind walls and closet doors. I made the purchase and found that it was easy to setup. It was a great investment for my home theater and I haven’t looked back since.

The Logitech Harmony universal remote control is probably the only universal remote anyone would ever need. The main reason behind this is the ability of the Harmony to update its database. That means that when manufacturers of television sets, movie and music players, component systems, and many other electric devices that uses a remote release new lines of their devices the Logitech remote will be able to learn how to control that device without any trouble.

This feature though is only possible if the remote is connected to a computer that has an internet connection. By connecting the Harmony to a computer, one can configure the settings for the remote to be able to control up to 15 electronic devices. That means this remote can replace up to 15 remotes. One can also program specialized buttons to do a task that would normally take a couple of clicks to do like jumping to one’s favorite channel or changing the picture or sound setup to a preferred setting.

Logitech Harmony remote controls also have buttons called one touch activity buttons. This buttons can also be setup in the computer but is more of a preset action than a programmable one. For example, one’s entertainment system is setup where the television set is connected to a DVD player and both of them are connected to a component system. By pressing the “Watch DVD” button, the remote will turn on the television, DVD player, and component and set it up to be ready to play a DVD. This saves a lot of time as one would not have the need anymore to use at least three different remotes just to watch a movie.

The Logitech Harmony controller will definitely make life a lot easier. With the online setup guide and online customer support, one would not have any trouble using this device. One’s downtime would not be spent being confused and frustrated with figuring out which remote is which.
