The typical cycle of hair growth is about 2 to 3 years and each hair grows roughly 1 centimeter every month. Most of the hair on your scalp is growing one by one. Few hairs are in a resting stage. But after three or four months, other hair will fall out and then the new hair will start to grow in its own place. It’s not unusual to have some hair fall out every day as part of this cycle. Unfortunately, some people suffer from a dramatic amount of hair loss and this problem can happen to men, women and even children.

There are a lot of reasons why one experience excessive hair loss. This can be an effect of an illness or a major surgery. In this case, you can lose a large amount of hair and this is related to stress that often accompanies being ill but it’s temporary. A vitamin deficiency can also cause hair loss. That’s why many people take hair loss vitamins such as biotin hair growth supplements. A hormonal problem is also one cause of hair loss. Hair loss may happen if male or female hormones are not balanced. The hormone imbalance should be repaired first to stop hair loss. Most women who just gave birth usually experience hair loss, and this is also related to a hormonal imbalance. During pregnancy, there is a high level of hormones that causes the body to keep hair that would normally fall out. After pregnancy, that hair falls out while the normal growth cycle starts again.

Medicine can also cause hair loss and this kind of problem can be remedied by stopping the medication in question although this should only be done with your doctor’s permission. Medicines such as blood thinners and heart medications can make you more prone to hair loss. There are certain infections that can also cause hair loss as well as other fungal infections. It is best to consult a doctor to cure a hair loss problem. Your doctor can usually do something about it, but he needs to ask few questions to determine the cause of your hair loss. Basically, the doctor will examine you to ensure that he can find an appropriate solution for you. Treatments are available and the doctor will give out the right medicine for your problem. Minoxidil is the common remedy that people use because it can be purchased even without a prescription. It will take few months to see the results although it is not guaranteed that it will solve your hair loss problem. That’s why it’s still best to consult a professional to get the right medication.

A lot of us want to have thick, shiny and beautiful hair. This can be impossible especially since most of us face a continuing problem, hair loss. Hair loss can be a problem if it makes you feel unattractive and insecure. There are a lot of reasons for hair falling out. Some of them are improper diet, medication, dandruff, shampoos and the wrong way of cleaning your hair.

Here are some tips to reduce hair loss and to keep your hair thick and shiny. To remove dandruff, you can apply lemon juice on your hair or on where dandruff is present. You can also apply white pepper powder mixed with cottage cheese and apply to hair, leave it on for about thirty minutes and rinse it out thoroughly.  Shampoos can also cause dandruff. Do not use harsh shampoos that could irritate your scalp. If you are not sure which brand to use, consult a dermatologist, trial and error doesn’t work here. Another alternative would be using herbal shampoos.

Try to maintain a daily protein intake. Hair is made of keratin (protein) so it is important to maintain a good level of protein in your body. You can also prevent hair loss by taking a vitamin B6 supplement. Vitamin B6 is important for our hair, nails and skin. Water is also part of the plan. Drink the appropriate amount of water everyday to help clean your body’s immune system and this can help in cellular growth and regeneration especially in your scalp.

Massage scalp with oil at least twice a month. Rinsing hair properly will take away shampoo and dust particles that are trapped in your hair.  It is also important to consult a dermatologist on what is causing your hair to fall out. The hair is considered to be the crowning glory of a person. It also reflects on how you take care and give importance to yourself.
