Why You Need A Conical Burr Coffee Grinder

Are you looking for a quick way to dramatically improve the quality of the coffee that you brew at home? Have you become frustrated at the lack of consistency that you are able to achieve with your home setup and are you ready to ditch it for another, newer coffee maker? If so, then you might want to save your money and read this article instead. Regardless of what you may have heard, the key to better tasting coffee can’t be found in a new coffee maker or some fancy coffee beans, but instead in a conical burr coffee grinder. Yes, that’s right, the ticket to consistently great coffee at home involves the type of grinder you use to grind your beans.

You might be wondering why I’ve suggested a burr grinder when there are other types of grinders on the market that can be had for less than half the cost. The truth is that the most common type of grinder, the blade grinder, is bad for coffee beans. Although you probably assumed that all grinders are created equal, I’m here to tell you that this simply isn’t the case. Blade grinders use s blade that tends to pulverize the coffee beans into tiny bits and pieces. Among these bits and pieces includes a fair amount of dust, which can lead to bitterness in the final cup, and as you probably know bitterness is one of the most heinous qualities you can produce in a cup of coffee.

I’m not here to tell you the burr grinders are cheap; in fact, you should be prepared to spend between $75 and $150 for a conical grinder that will provide you with consistent results. In my experience, one of best grinders is the Solis Maestro, which is priced right around $150. This grinder will allow you to adjust the coarseness of the grind to suit the type of drink you are preparing. While the Maestro isn’t the greatest grinder in the world for espresso, it’s definitely suitable for drip or French press coffee.

If your goal is to begin brewing excellent coffee starting today, then you need to pick up a quality burr coffee grinder.
