A new theme park opened in Orlando, Florida, in the middle of 2010. It is called The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and it is part of the Universal Studios group of parks. It is not a fully fledged park in its own right, but is actually a section of a larger park, so you get to visit a traditional sort of amusement park at the same time as the world of Harry Potter. In the Harry Potter section, there are several rides and attractions, and we list the key attractions below.

The first ride is known as The Flight of the Hippogriff, after one of the creatures cared for by the character of Hagrid. It is a somewhat tame roller coaster, and you get to glimpse some of Hagrid’s characters, most notably the Hippogriff, of course. It is an animatronic creature, and it looks great. The main ride is called Harry Potter’s Forbidden Journey, and it takes you in and around the school of Hogwarts, where Harry, Hermione, and Ron go to school in the books. After the rides are done, you can visit the village of Hogsmeade, which is a replica of the village where the kids sneak off to. You can sip some pumpkin juice or visit a wand shop and buy your kids their own magic wand and a list of the Harry Potter magic spells so they can practice them when they get back home!
